plain-woven raw canvas, with a fine and compact weft, very robust but rather transparent against the light.
It is produced in linen or wool and viscose yarn (once in camel hair).
It is mainly used as an interfacing in the manufacture of suits, jackets and coats in particular.
The linen version is totally biodegradable.
That in viscose and wool is almost totally, the cellulosic viscose is of vegetable origin and contains small percentages of the caustic soda and carbon sulphide that are used to produce it.
