... and it is suspended on the stage of the Teatro de la Zarzuela by means of Ties sewn along the two sides that are parallel to the proscenium line and it can, therefore, be considered a Rearward lifting curtain. At the same time it works as a Kabuki curtain which, instead of discovering the scene with its fall, when its rear side is unhooked ...
... it closes it.Being higher than the height at which it is suspended, the backdrop rests in part on the stage ...
... where the dancers can continue to make it float. The making of the backdrop was devised by the choreography and the technical direction of the show in order to facilitate its interaction with the movements of the dance. The 50% vertical fullness transforms it into a trapezoid: if the hanging side is 12 m wide, the lower one is 18 m wide.
The dancers therefore have at their disposal, to make the backdrop float, a fair abundance of fabric both in height and in width. And they are facilitated, in addition to the extreme lightness of the HSE - Tempesta silk, which weighs only 22 g / m² and retains the air, also by the soft finish of the lower side, whose Ties have been sewn with a particularity that makes them invisible when the bottom is shaken.
Another important detail of the making is the cut that allows the dancers to look out from the backdrop.
Here the dancers are dancing on the fabric lying on the stage ...
... while here the backdrop has been raised and it is illuminated with less contrasted light.
