According to Ilaria Occhini, stunned and innocent protagonist of the disaster with Vittorio Gassman, the Milanese public threw themselves against the lout Rome that was represented in the comedy, creating a then unconscious prodrome of the Northern League. The opera begins right from the end of that performance, barely reached due to the dispute of the audience and among its characters there are some actors of that evening and Flaiano himself.
In the fiction of the opera, Ilaria Occhini emerges from the curtain of the Teatro Nazionale di Roma, which represents the one that has just closed on the fiasco of the Teatro Lirico Giorgio Gaber din Milan.Projected on the curtain, the title of the opera reverses the terms of the title of the comedy: A Roman in Mars instead of A Martian in Rome.
In the opera, the protagonist of the theatrical fiction, the Martian Kunt, really appears and introduces himself to an incredulous Ilaria Occhini.
Stunned and with her hands outstretched, Ilaria Occhini follows Kunt with her gaze as he flies in the background of the PNE - Nerissimo screen. The screen measures 9.22 x 5.22m and is mounted with WPE - Perofix elastic hooks on an exposed frame made of 7QX30 - Grinzi cu sectiune patrata 29 cm.The light frame is made with LED strips.
The stories of the protagonists of the opera, Ilaria Occhini, Ennio Flaiano and the blond Martian Kunt, are accompanied by the narration of the Critico, the character in a yellow shirt and tie who comments on the messages enunciated on the screen.
The animations by Gianluigi Toccafondo use the screen in an expressionistic way, exasperating the high contrast and black depth obtainable with the PNE - Nerissimo film.
Gianluigi Toccafondo used the characteristics of the screen to underline in a visually biting way the famous aphorisms by Flaiano: «L'insuccesso mi ha dato alla testa» was his comment about the Milanese fiasco of the Martian (Failure went to my head). The resentment of the Milanese public was not unrelated to the impression of Rome represented in La dolce vita ...
